A Late Lunch And A Neighborhood Walk

Song:  Give Me Love

Artist:  George Harrison

The other day...
I took my mother out to a late lunch at a restaurant
I had read good reviews about...but to which I had never been.

My mother and I agreed on trying some new places to eat
as part of the adventure of life.

This place is called 'The Depot'.

It is in downtown Reno and it is a converted old train station.

I had to try two of their foods:

The 'Pork Belly Tacos'...
and 'The Depot Burger'.

Although it looked as if it would be too messy to eat...
just by scooping the sauce and the vegetables inside the tacos...
they were quite a neat treat.

They were delicious.

'The Depot Burger' seemed as if it would be too big to eat.

My mother and I shared the burger.

She still has a voracious appetite.

It had a moist burger patty...
the most moist and tender burger patty I had ever eaten...
topped with delicious pastrami, sauerkraut, and creamy Russian dressing.

The whole meal was very good.

The ketchup for the fries was made there...
and it had a very fresh and delicious taste.

It was a very pleasant lunch.

Some of the neighborhood before going up to the hilltop where my mother lives.

I wanted to show the spring blossoms.

After relaxing for a bit...
I took my mother on a hillside walk with her dog...Hana.

The hillside trails are just a few houses away from my mother's house.

I will take her on walks here in good weather.

The top of the near hill is where we will end up going in a few more walks.

I will build my mother up to longer walks once again.

I fooled my mother by saying that we would be walking to the top...
and this is the look she had given me  :)

She was happy when I told her I was joking.

We just walked up a little farther...
and then turned around.

My mother checking if the flowers had a scent...
they didn't.

We then walked back to her house.

We arrived at her house...

and then had a cup of coffee in her backyard.

We then watched a movie and just relaxed.

Just before going home...
I took my mother to the night city lookout in her neighborhood.

My mother loves looking at the city lights.

All of Reno may be seen from here.

The road I drive down her hill also has beautiful views of the city along its route.

Exercise is important for the body.

Beautiful views and delicious food are good for the soul.

Again...
life is only too short if you don't create magical memories
and enjoy the simple pleasures of life along the way.

Being adventurous...
getting out and enjoying life...
is the only way to do this.

My Mother Enjoying Some Simple Pleasures: Outdoors / Backyard

Song:  Lotus

Group:  Secret Garden

I had taken my family up to Stampede Reservoir a few days ago.

I took my mother up to see it yesterday.

We also took Hana so she could enjoy the new sights and smells of the mountains.

Stampede Reservoir is just a short and pleasurable 30 minute drive from Reno.

On our way back home from Stampede Reservoir.

My mother relaxing in her backyard after coming home from Stampede Reservoir.

The waterfall you hear in this video was in no way enhanced.

The waterfall was designed to naturally enhance the sound of the water.

It may be heard throughout the yard...
and it greatly enhances the relaxing atmosphere of the yard.

I will soon install lights to highlight her waterfall at night.

I had put together my mother's patio furniture last week.

The chairs are very comfortable...
and they fully and easily rotate and allow some to and fro rocking.

She also has a fire pit...
which we shall use some time soon.

Hana really enjoys the backyard.

I threw 'Sharky' for her.

She loves fetching and running around with it afterwards.

We had moved just two of the chairs and the patio table out for now.

When the weather warms up some more...
we will place all of the furniture out in the open.

I had given my mother this mountain jacket.

It was far too small for me
in the length of the arms...
and in the shoulders...
NOT in the belly :)

It is rugged on the outside...
quilted on the inside...
and has an attached hood.

It is perfect for her to wear whenever we go to the mountains.

My mother and I relaxed and enjoyed the mountain views from her backyard...
with a cup of coffee.

It soon started to get dark outside...
but it was a very relaxing day for us.

There is far more to life than to vegetate in front of a TV all day.

Life only seems too short if a person doesn't fill it with magical times.

It is crucial for elderly people to enjoy the simple pleasures of life.

There is so much to enjoy in the great outdoors...
and in appreciating the outside of your home as much as you do the inside.

We may enjoy so many outdoor places near Reno...
for just the price of gas.

As soon as it warms some more...
we are going to enjoy some meals outside while watching the sunset...
and finishing off the meal with a good cup of coffee
while enjoying a roaring fire in the fire pit.

This simple outdoor patio set...
including the fire pit...
was under $500.00 delivered
(from Home Depot).

The enjoyment my mother shall receive from its usage
will far exceed the minimal cost of this set.

With her being able to fully enjoy her backyard...
she has efficiently doubled her enjoyment of her house.
