My elder sister had my mother over at her house on this night
to try her home two seat sauna.
My elder sister uses this on an almost daily basis.
She has it in one corner of her master bedroom.
My elder sister has had this for over 15 years.
She moved it from her old residence to her new one.
It is an infrared sauna and has a temperature control and timer shut off.
Finnish research demonstrates that saunas not only add several years
to a person's life (Thermal Stress)...
but the real benefits come in the greatly raised health of those years...
mentally as well as physically.
My elder sister and her husband are still moving things into their new home.
There are two speakers inside so they may listen to their favorite
music while in the sauna.
A hidden pop down ceiling panel holds the radio and cd player.
Newer models have a radio and an iPod holder...
some even use bluetooth.
My elder sister just had my mom try it from the warm up phase.
She usually preheats the unit for 15 minutes before entering.
About halfway through their session...
they started to sweat heavily
(my sister kept the heat just medium as it was my mother's first time in a sauna.
It eventually got up to 150 degrees F).
My sister makes it much hotter when she does it alone.
My mother is now 80 years old...
and elder sister is 60 yrs. old.
I will be 60 later this year.
I wanted my mother to get one for her master bedroom so she may enjoy the immense health
and psychological benefits from a sauna...
and so, I wanted her to try one first.
I really like my elder sister's shower.
I like the rain shower head above...
and the regular shower head...
as they work in tandem.
My mother loved the sauna...
and she is now going to get one for her use at home.
On the drive home...
she was very happy in the thought of getting one of her own.
I will put on her favorite music to listen to as she enjoys sweating away stress...
and then having her get a nice warm shower afterwards...
whereupon she may get under a nice warm comforter as she watches her favorite shows
from the comfort of her bed...to then drift off to a nice deep restorative sleep.
On the morrow...
I will start researching some home saunas for my mother.
She has much to look forwards to.
It will be especially good right after an exercise session.
Earlier this year, while on a business trip, I read an article in the airline's in-flight magazine that talked about the benefits of an infrared sauna. We don't have space for a unit like the one your sister have, but I wanted to try it so I got a sauna wrap. I'm a little skeptical about the health benefits, but I'm hoping that it will at least help my son lose a little weight. And me, too. :)
ReplyDeleteYour sister's unit is great with the radio/CD player. Looks like your mother really enjoyed it. Love her smile!
My sister loves it, and she uses it often. I am still looking around for a good sauna, but, I will be ordering one very soon. My mother loves the thought of listening to her favorite music while relaxing in one.
