A Spaghetti Dinner For Five

Song:  Crossing The Sweetwater

Artists:  Jeannine Goeckeritz and Tamara Oswald

A couple of days ago...
I made dinner for my elder sister and her husband
(they were here for a couple of days to take care of some business)...
as well as for my younger sister and my mother.

I made Spaghetti with meat sauce.

I love thick spaghetti.

No exaggeration...
I stocked up my mother's pantry with approximately 100 boxes of these noodles.

Not only because it is the best...
and the store too often runs short of them because they are popular...
but, so long as they are kept dry...
they are edible for millennia.

They are inexpensive...
and the perfect survival food.

This, along with plenty of sprout seeds...
powdered milk and powdered eggs...
all of which last a long time...
will provide all the necessary nutrients in cases of mass disaster.

While I usually buy Prego sauce...
I couldn't find the spicy style I prefer in it.

I used two lbs of ground beef.

I prefer a zesty tomato and green onion salad when we eat Italian meals.

I find this particular dressing to go exceptionally well with the tomato and green onion salad.

This salad is especially healthful for the elderly.

I always try to incorporate tomatoes in several dishes a week for my mother.
She especially likes this salad.
It is very flavorful.

I also use various spices and fresh mushroom slices in the spaghetti.

I love a lot of meat in my spaghetti.

I don't often make beef dishes for my mother...
but I try to do so about once a week...
as it is a rich source of B vitamins...
far more so than may be gotten from other sources.

I had also made garlic bread.

My elder sister had concluded with her business on this day.

On the following day...
she departed for her home in CA.

She expects to return in a month or so.

Addendum:

I decided to try what my younger sister does with her spaghetti.

She adds stewed tomatoes to her spaghetti.

It makes the dish so much tastier.
I made some on this night...
and I also omitted the mushrooms.
This is how I am going to make my spaghetti from now on.

These stewed tomatoes made all the difference in the world.

I had forgotten to take a picture until I was almost finished.

I used the same for everything else.

  1. I also like a lot of meat in my spaghetti. And that last version with the stewed tomatoes looks really tasty.

And that tomato and green onion salad looks really yummy! We'll have to try that with our spaghetti next time.

  2. The stewed tomatoes really made all the difference in taste. That salad is one of my favorites. Extra oregano also adds so much to the flavor.
