II - Near Hope Valley / Markleeville Fall Colors

Song:  Color / Dance

Artist:  George Winston

We then stopped at a place my sister called...
Memorial Bridge.

You will see why shortly.

It was a short road which led to nowhere.

I would have loved to put my house at the end of this road.

What a serene setting.

It had everything...
Fall colors...
mountains...
river...
solitude.

Although it had started to rain...
and the sun was not shining...
it was still the most beautiful place for fall colors.

We are going back tomorrow...
as it will be sunny...
and, we are going to follow the river down for a mile or so.

My mother was tired today...
so, she watched the colors from the car.

However, tomorrow...
she is going to hike with us.

We are going to follow the river down tomorrow.

Hopefully there is a trail...
as my mother will be walking with us.

Just off the path...
there was a memorial.

I don't know if the person was a soldier...
or if he just loved this spot and recently died.

This place was a fantasy setting.

I can hardly wait to go back on the morrow.

  1. Serene setting is a very apt description. Love the combination of mountains and rivers along with the fall colors.

  2. It was so nice. Even the low clouds and light rain added to the almost mystic setting.
